Jump Rope Sizing Guide
By default all of our jump ropes come with a 10 foot cord or cable, unless otherwise specified. This length of cord will fit anybody up to 6' 4" tall for general fitness jumping.
Longer cords and cables can be purchased separately.
Easily size down your 10ft cord/cable with scissors or cable cutters.
General Fitness: If you’re just getting started with a jump rope or simply want to burn a few calories, efficiency is no longer the goal but rather consistency. While you’re still learning to jump, you may need a bit more length in the rope. This extra length will allow you the space to make minor technique errors without causing misses. We recommend a height of 10” to 18” over your head.
- Goal: Consistency
- Clearance: 10” to 18”
Speed & Double Unders: The goal with speed jumping is efficiency, which means you want the jump rope to travel the shortest distance possible with minimal effort. If your jump rope is too long, it will feel sloppy and take too much effort to turn. A shorter distance means a smaller gap between your head and the rope. You’ll want to aim for 4” to 8” to maximize your jump rope speed.
- Goal: Efficiency
- Clearance: 4” to 8”
Freestyle: Jump rope tricks require a high level of control over the rope and the handles. Freestyle jump rope allows for the variance in recommended height because of the different paths the rope takes for tricks. Whatever length you’re most comfortable with is best. Typically, we recommend the rope be between 6” to 14” over your head. However, it is common to see ropes only a few inches over the heads of competitive freestyle jumpers.
- Goal: Control
- Clearance: 6” to 14”
The Surge® 3.0 speed rope is designed to improve your speed with speed skipping or double unders. The ultra smooth handle creates a centripetal "whip" effect, giving you increased feedback for developing a double under rhythm quicker than other jump ropes.
Ultra light-weight design for long sets and less arm/hand fatigue. Designed by a national champion jump rope coach and athlete to improve your double unders.

I needed a new speed rope for Crossfit (double unders). There were many choices, so it was a hard decision. I selected Surge 3.0 SRS based on reviews and photos. I love it! I love the smaller handles, smooth motion, weight of rope....What I did not know and was pleasantly surprised was the hidden tool in each handle for adjusting the length of rope. This came very handy when I using it at CF for the first time and getting the right adjustment. Shipped timely, good price, great product.
I’ve been a CrossFitter for almost 2 years, and I’ve been okay at DUs. I had my own rope from a sporting store, and I thought it was just me struggling to string more than 8 together. That rope broke, and a coach recommended I try an Elitesrs.
I used it this morning on a DU heavy WOD and OH MY GOODNESS!!! It is SO MUCH BETTER!! Than handle design makes a WORLD of a difference!!! I easily strung together 15 DUs the FIRST TIME I JUMPED WITH IT. I was shocked.
Pull the trigger. This is amazing. I’m recommending it to all my CF peeps.
This rope seems to be made a good quality materials & will hopefully last for a long time. Lightweight & fast, would be perfect for double unders (still trying to learn).
The only down side I seem to have experienced so far is that one of the handles doesn’t spin quite a freely as the other. Don’t get me wrong it still works but it’s just not as smooth as the other, almost like the bearing isn’t quite as good in this side.
Overall a good quality rope!
Hi Luke, Thanks for the review! So glad that you love the rope! Sorry that one of your handles doesn't seem to be spinning as well as it should. I will send you a new handle.
I like the design of these handles, but they're too short and the flaired part digs into my palm. Took a minute to set up. Rope is nice and light.
Hi Jo, Thanks for the feedback. I would love to help you find handles that you love. I will send you a pair of our rep handles and would love to hear how you like the longer handles.
You don’t get a crimp or rubber end cap for the end you cut.
Also, the cable wire is extremely hard to cut even though it’s super thin which is good? but you also don’t get anything to cut it with and for the price, it really doesn’t make sense. I had a wire cutter that apparently wasn’t even sharp enough so I’m getting another one to see if it snips if not it looks like I may need to buy the EliteSRS one which is about $12 plus shipping. The only positive thing about it other than the handle spin is the fact that the bottom of the handle is a mini screw driver but other than that, this rope is worth $30 at most.
Victor, we're sorry to hear you're having issue. The suggestion for a crimp or rubber end cap is a good one, and we'll start including those. The cable wire is sturdy, but should be easy to cut with any good pair of wire cutters. Ours of course will work well, but a good pair of pliers with a wire cutter will work. We'd love to hear your feedback after you jump with this rope. We're confident you'll love it. If not, we're happy to return your money.

Jump smarter with a mat
We recommend using a jump rope mat to reduce impact on your joints and to extend the life of your jump rope, especially on hard outdoor surfaces.
