Jump Rope Sizing Guide
By default all of our jump ropes come with a 10 foot cord or cable, unless otherwise specified. This length of cord will fit anybody up to 6' 4" tall for general fitness jumping.
Longer cords and cables can be purchased separately.
Easily size down your 10ft cord/cable with scissors or cable cutters.
General Fitness: If you’re just getting started with a jump rope or simply want to burn a few calories, efficiency is no longer the goal but rather consistency. While you’re still learning to jump, you may need a bit more length in the rope. This extra length will allow you the space to make minor technique errors without causing misses. We recommend a height of 10” to 18” over your head.
- Goal: Consistency
- Clearance: 10” to 18”
Speed & Double Unders: The goal with speed jumping is efficiency, which means you want the jump rope to travel the shortest distance possible with minimal effort. If your jump rope is too long, it will feel sloppy and take too much effort to turn. A shorter distance means a smaller gap between your head and the rope. You’ll want to aim for 4” to 8” to maximize your jump rope speed.
- Goal: Efficiency
- Clearance: 4” to 8”
Freestyle: Jump rope tricks require a high level of control over the rope and the handles. Freestyle jump rope allows for the variance in recommended height because of the different paths the rope takes for tricks. Whatever length you’re most comfortable with is best. Typically, we recommend the rope be between 6” to 14” over your head. However, it is common to see ropes only a few inches over the heads of competitive freestyle jumpers.
- Goal: Control
- Clearance: 6” to 14”
A heavy 1.5lb jump rope featuring a thick 12mm PVC cord that creates both weight and wind resistance. Popular with martial arts training for developing muscle endurance. Recommended for intermediate to advanced jumpers who want to challenge themselves.
Rope Usage: This style of heavy jump rope is used by Muay Thai fighters to build grip strength and muscle endurance for grappling. You need an even distribution of weight throughout your heavy jump rope to get the cardio and muscular benefits weighted jump ropes provide.
Weight varies by rope length:
- 8ft - 1.3lbs (heights under 5'8")
- 9ft - 1.5lbs heights 5'9" to 6'1")

Engage More Muscle
The Muay Thai 2.0 will engage the core, back, shoulder and arms that don't normally get a workout with jump rope.
Heavy Double Unders
The dual ball bearing spin makes this a fast, heavy rope and popular for training heavy double unders in CrossFit.
Most weighted jump ropes are clunky and difficult to spin. The Muay Thai 2.0's dual ball bearing design makes for a fast smooth spin.
I love this rope! It moves very smoothly, is well built, and has very comfortable handles. I actually tried out the heavy cross rope set too and honestly I prefer this one. The cross rope’s handles left my hands feeling sticky. This one is just right.
I have been jumping with a speed rope (Bullet Fit also made by Elite SRS which is a really good rope). I bought the muay Thai rope for variety and to push myself physically. It's a workout! It takes quite a bit of effort to spin the rope. The thing that surprised me was how sore my legs were after using it the 1st time. I don't think I would recommend it for beginners. I believe it's for people who have been jumping for a while and are looking to push themselves physically.
After trying other weighted ropes and being disappointed I found the Muay Thai 2.0 and this thing is no joke! Could instantly tell a difference in the feel of the rope and how smooth it is. Will definitely be looking to purchase some of the lighter ropes in the future!!
I use the Muay Thai 2.0 - Heavy PVC Jump Rope at least twice a week. Love the workout; especially HIIT-oriented. I highly recommend.
The product is great in theory but mine didn’t last long and I don’t even jump much but it was a great workout when it did…

Jump smarter with a mat
We recommend using a jump rope mat to reduce impact on your joints and to extend the life of your jump rope, especially on hard outdoor surfaces.
