Jump Rope Sizing Guide
By default all of our jump ropes come with a 10 foot cord or cable, unless otherwise specified. This length of cord will fit anybody up to 6' 4" tall for general fitness jumping.
Longer cords and cables can be purchased separately.
Easily size down your 10ft cord/cable with scissors or cable cutters.
General Fitness: If you’re just getting started with a jump rope or simply want to burn a few calories, efficiency is no longer the goal but rather consistency. While you’re still learning to jump, you may need a bit more length in the rope. This extra length will allow you the space to make minor technique errors without causing misses. We recommend a height of 10” to 18” over your head.
- Goal: Consistency
- Clearance: 10” to 18”
Speed & Double Unders: The goal with speed jumping is efficiency, which means you want the jump rope to travel the shortest distance possible with minimal effort. If your jump rope is too long, it will feel sloppy and take too much effort to turn. A shorter distance means a smaller gap between your head and the rope. You’ll want to aim for 4” to 8” to maximize your jump rope speed.
- Goal: Efficiency
- Clearance: 4” to 8”
Freestyle: Jump rope tricks require a high level of control over the rope and the handles. Freestyle jump rope allows for the variance in recommended height because of the different paths the rope takes for tricks. Whatever length you’re most comfortable with is best. Typically, we recommend the rope be between 6” to 14” over your head. However, it is common to see ropes only a few inches over the heads of competitive freestyle jumpers.
- Goal: Control
- Clearance: 6” to 14”
I've really enjoyed using the Elite SRS Overcomer Series Jump Rope as part of my fitness routine. The 1" beaded jump rope has a satisfying snap when it hits the ground, and the custom unbreakable handles and shatterproof beads make it a durable choice. It's perfect for adults, but just be mindful that you'll need a high ceiling or outdoor space to make the most of it, and it might not be easily adjustable for kids. Overall, it's a fantastic workout companion that I highly recommend.
The rope is too long and hard to use.
@RB, if the rope is too long it's easy to resize down. Just undue the knot in the handle, remove a few beads, cut the excess cord and retie. Should only take a few minutes to size correctly for yourself.
First, I really loved the colour, turquoise. The handle is so comfortable and the material is really good. I've been practising some cool tricks with it, and learning even more.
Jumping rope was something I did as a kid. I’ve jumped for fun, during warmups for boxing training and participated in a few event programs such as Jump Rope For Heart. I would consider myself a beginner though. People have been doing really cool jump rope tricks on social media. Have you seen? I haven’t touched a rope in years until I came across a bunch of clips on instagram. That’s what inspired me to get started again.. oh, and the health benefits too.
This beaded rope is perfect for beginners. It’s so easy to use, holds its shape, doesn’t kink and provides more feedback than one without the beads. Not doing much exciting tricks yet, but I’m practicing & progressing each day. I will get there. I’m 5’3” so I did have to adjust (shorten) the length of the rope, which was simple to do. I’ve done it with my kids’ ropes. I just checked and Elite SRS has an instructional video on their YouTube channel. Go check it out if you need the help. Don’t know what the ideal size for your height should be?
I’m loving this particular rope by Elite SRS so far and so far it is good. I’ve been using it almost daily (I’ll miss a day once in awhile) for over a month now, outside on the pavement in my backyard, and it is holding up fine. It is definitely worth the price!
I'm 70 years old, and getting enough exercise is hard to do. I had a jump rope years ago (in my 50's) and it was okay. The weighting beads on this one give the rope some momentum so I don't have to work as hard just to move the rope. They also tend to keep the rope from tangling up.
This rope was WAY long - even at nearly 6 feet tall, I had to cut off probably 8 to 10 inches to get it the right length (CAUTION: make sure to singe the cut end to keep it from unravelling).
I'm not into tricks, just exercise and getting my heart to pump faster, and this works well for that. Just a few minutes of simple jump roping raises my heart rate like walking for a long time uphill.
At 3oz, this is the standard spec rope used for feedback when drilling new jump rope skills and strict form. It will not kink and keeps its shape for executing tricks. Ideal for men and women using as a daily workout jump rope.
Sizing: Easily adjust the length of this segmented jump rope. The 10' length will fit jumpers up to 6'4" tall. Shorten/resize the jump rope as needed by loosening the washer/tie on one end the handle, removing beads and cutting the excess cord.
